Steve Barney

"Steve is my kind of drummer" - Annie Lennox

Steve Barney 300x144 Steve Barney

As part of a band or session work, Steve’s rock-solid groove & extensive experience of International tours, Studio recordings & TV promo has led him to play all over the world.

Born in Norfolk (UK), a Xmas present of an ‘Argos’ toy drum kit, Steve’s mum & dad noticed something was going on. In 1980, rock band Genesis came to the seaside town of Great Yarmouth on tour (not on holiday!). In the audience that night was a 9 year old Steve (his Dad & Uncle Roger) and after seeing Phil & Chester Thompson’s drum solo little Steve left the venue with ringing ears and “Dad, I wanna do that!” in his heart & soul.

Forward to 2010, now residing in the music capital of the world, Liverpool – Steve’s ears are still ringing and he’s doing it!

Touring and recording with Annie Lennox, Jeff Beck, Sugababes and Anastacia have raised Steve’s game with Pop/Rock royalty.

“Steve is my kind of drummer. The drummer is like the foundation of a house. Everything else comes from that core place of stability. When I’m performing I don’t want to be distracted by fluctuations in the ground that’s supporting me, the tempo or groove. That’s my boy Steve. He’s right there in the pocket…always. Economy, consistency and power. He’s the man for the job.” Annie Lennox
